Moodboard for packaging design GLR

These moodboard are made for a packaging assignment. We needed to find a style to go for and know what the consumers want. We needed to make a moodboard for the new student who want to study at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, the teachers of the school who want to know more about packaging design and companies who want to hire the student or in search of trainees. This moodboard is for the new student who want to study at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam. Most students are very creative and want to be a graphic artist. Cause there young and new there still very ruff and got allot of new idea. They like many kinds of colors and are all different and there very buzy and loud.This is the moodboard for the teachers. The teachers are very different and all so normal or nutty at sometimes. There are some comedians between them but all in common is the most are actual designers who have worked at design companies. And they are trying to make perfect future designers.This is a moodboard for the companies. Here I want to show the workspace of design companies. There not the normal office with tidy suit and everybody behind a computer. These companies got a big workspace to give the designers open space to search great designs. The companies are all about money and competition to get the best designs. And there is no standard designer because they can be anyone and look like everybody.

These are handmade moodboards with pictures from a great magazine wallpaper. Every picture cutted of tore out of this magazine. Its a great magazine with magnificent pictures for everything.

FixSor / Available

This is my entry on the FixSor logo. Fixsor.com where contactors and home owners come to find the best quality service online. Home owners submit a project and qualify service provider contact them about there project.

This logo I had a idea for the X to become te roof of house but didn't knew how to execute it. So it tried this to set this idea so I am the first to do so. The contest holder liked the color and readability. This is a revision of the first logo. Here I found a font with a X where I could make the house in a more perspective view. And I also find a .com plus a tag line is too either one or the other.
After few discussions with the contest holder we found out the contest holder didn't want any graphics in the logo to do with home improvements. So I tried a simple text only with web 2.0 button style.
This is revision of it after some updates the contest holder wanted. He wanted the .com to e next to the R like the first logo and also a new tag line "contractors for all".

Looking back I found the 2nd version with the house to look very good. I like the look of the house in perspective. But not really sure on the font and color use. The last design look good with the web 2.0 shine but the font might been too simple. Next time I know I need to do something with the font them self on a no graphic logo.

CSO Counsil / Available

This is my entry for CSO Counsil. They wanted a logo with people in a conversation, so here I used the CSO and made each letter a dialog box. Here I tried to use a bit of gradient to make a web 2.0 style.
This is a revision of the logo with a better web 2.0 style gradient on it. Only I didn't had time to submit it. I finally learned how to get a good web 2.0 style gradient over the logo, also learn few different style to do it too.

GuidePost technologies / Available

This is my entry for GuidePost is a consulting company, and trends at the moment with any company that does consult or talk allot uses a dialog box as a logo. Here I used GP to form a dialog box.This is a revision on the first logo and moved the dialog box to the other side and made the word technologies smaller and added a bit of gradient for a web 2.0 style.

This a other idea making it a total dialog box around the name and also keeping the GP. Only thing I not sure about it because it post look too much like for a post office instead of consultancy.

CHUNG DHA MP3 Packaging

This was made last year for T&V. We had to design a mp3 packaging for this assignment. First we had to make a mp3 logo it. My MP3 logo is quite simple, the MP are combine and closed the gap in the P. The 3 was made with simple 3 stripes.
I like a clean design so it got not too much graphics one it, because its not my taste, I made this package with hard cardboards in colors silver and glossy black. The logo and the barcode graphic are made by cutting vinyl and paste them on it. Chung Dha was written with a white paint marker.
This is what is inside of the outer package. I though its just too simple to paste a box so made special opening in the middle. And plan to that you need pull out the cylinder to access the mp3. And secretly added my own CD logo in it. This design was also displayed at the school during the open days for new students.

New shirts in my shirt shop God is a DJ

This illustration on this shirt was made last year but I lost the file for it but the sketch and the original shirt I still got. But I updated few things in this illustration.
The illustration is made out of a turntable with the text God is a DJ. The disc is made out of the word GOD. You can buy the shirt in my shirt shop and they cost at a fairly low price too.

Aruba Salsa / Available

Aruba Salsa a dance school for Salsa in Aruba. This was a small contest before they decide who to hire to make a there house style. Did not won it but still this logo looks pretty good. A pair dancing and the style I made it is a ribbon style, the orange ribbon is wrapped around the blue one. When you look good you see an A and a S in the logo. Left the orange and cyan was the one I submitted because they said they wanted a warm and sunny colors too it. Right the red and black one is the color I prefer more to this logo. It give a more professional feel for this logo and less playful.

Capturing the subways of Rotterdam

This is an assignment for FFTO. Here we may choose a own subject to make photos for and I choose the subway of Rotterdam. Here above you see the electric terminals before you enter the subway. I just captured this moment after someone went through them and while the doors were still open.I like this picture, its very powerfull. Its just makes you look at that empty chair directly. Click full post to see the rest of the pictures.This is a pretty cool picture some what you would expect to be made. A top shot of people coming out of the subway trains.
This is another powerful photo of an old man sitting a subway train. Its just perfectly made at the right moment. You see the old man directly take the lead roll in this photo.This shot is pretty cool cause of the blurred subway train and the rest is oretty sharp and great overall look of the subway itself.
A close up photo of the emergency stop brake in the subway train. I like this shot because the emergency stop lever is clear and sharp and is the main thing you look at and the thing in the back are all blurred.

Capturing movements in the city

These photos were made for FFTO a photography lesson. We all went out into the city of Rotterdam and made photos and try to capture the movement in the city. The first photo I was lucky in of to capture a pigeon landing.
Here I got a great shot of a car and also very sharp shot of the car and rest is blurred by movement. Click full post to see the rest of the pictures. This is another good shot of a car it looks almost like a BMW advertisement photo.In a busy city like Rotterdam the whole day there are allot of cars riding through this city.
Here I tried a more close up shot of a car that rode past me, but I got this cool effect only by capturing the backseat. Here I tried to get some movements of the trees and got this cool effect of one branch is sharp and the rest is blurred.

Adidas vector shoe

This is a non existing shoe, I was trying to render a shoe without using Photoshop and try to learn to use the gradient better. The idea of this shoe is to have 5 velcro fasteners, 3 black ones going to the outside of the shoe and 2 red going to the inside of the shoe. Just trying to get the looks of shoes with velcro to look better. Here below you can see how its made up with vector lines.

Tribute to my hero Norick Abe

This is a tribute to my hero Norick Abe a big racing legend in Japan. On 7 October 2007 he was killed in a road traffic accident with a truck, which made a sudden illegal u-turn, while riding a 500cc scooter in Kawasaki,Kanagawa, Japan.

Like everybody I also became fan of him after his wild card entry at GP500 in Suzuka where he impressed everyone by challenging for the win before he crash out with his extreme riding style.

This is a helmet texture set of Norick Abe to use in GP500 Microprose. The contents are 3 helmet skins, the preview you can see here below. Norick Abe TC1 X-Eleven , TC2 X-Eleven and the helmet he used in 2007. All textures fits LaZy_tJaI Shoei helmet model.
Condolences to the family and we will miss you Norick Abe. RIP NoriFumi.

Packaging Design GLR 2007 - 2008

This week my logo was voted to become the logo of the Packaging Design department of my school for this year. The logo is an abstract form of the initials P and D. However this logo was choosen by the teacher at the end because 2 of my logo's were in a tie after counting the votes. The logo that had the same amount of votes was the cube logo.

All the logo I designed for Packaging Design have the same element of using the initials and square blocks to shape them. Of course I got more then these 3 logo but there were the best to represent Packaging Design.

The chosen logo give a kind of template in perspective look and looks like a professional logo to attract companies.
The Cube looks like a box that got to do with packaging. And smart cut out shape to get the P and D in the cube self.
The tetris like logo give the feel of looking at stacked boxes. And the boxes make up the shape for P and the D.

Campus Callback v2

This is my second version of Campus Callback. The CH wanted a logo that could stand on his own. Because its about calling back I though of a phone with a return cycle on it. I first made the phone flat and tried to work out to get it stand out more, then I tried to make the phone in perspective and this came out. The CH wanted a revision with everything in a warning sign to give it more a dangerous look. I tried to make it all fit inside a warning sign triangle, but triangular shapes are not the easiest shapes to work with. How ever my taste goes to the first design though.Because I like the first design more I tried to find a better layout with the logo. And also tried out some fresh colors. And this came out, a very clean and simple logo.

Game Kastle / Avaible

This was my entry for a contest for a games shop where they sold magic card and war strategy figures. They wanted a castle with there initial GK in it. I though how I could make a castle but not to overdo it with details. So I though a simple tower and with not too much detail in it. The result is pretty good but only don't look that playful for a game shop. It looks too professional and also a very luxurious.

E-mails From ... / Avaible

This was an entry for a contest for E-mails from... This is different from a normal logo because the last word Shilo could be replaced with something else. Because the company sends e-books through the e-mail to there costumers, I though the best would to combine a mail and a book for this. I researched best way to show how a letter would look like and how a book would look the best in a simple logo. And this is the result an overal bookshape with the left side of the book with a half envelop.

NFME t-shirt contest

This is my very first win at DesignContest.net. I used my Camaro Illustration for this contest. I made the text wrap around the top of the car because if it was straight there would been allot of open spaces. The contest holder wanted a Firebird included in this design so I made it to sit behind the car and colored very light.
After the contest the CH wanted a banner that would have the same design as the shirt. So I made this, because there is no space on the top because a banner is very wide I made the text to be on on of the sides. After allot of testing I saw putting the text on the right somehow give a better look then on the left. I am very glad I finally won and its a very great experience.

Shape to letter morphing

This is also an old assignment for T&V, here I needed to change a object into a letter. Again I had letter X. In this assignment we needed to paint everything in gray and black white and make the morphing in 4 steps.I made the morphing slowly change and the light gray back to become darker and darker. In the first picture I painted the same bike from the writing Honda assignment. In the second picture you can see its still the bike but with a odd shape. In the third you clearly see the X and partial things that resembled things from the bike. And the last one it become clearly the letter X. For this assignment I've got a 9 for it, because of the clear and good morphing method and a very clean paintings.

Writing Honda illustration

This is a very old assignment for T&V, where we needed to use a very important picture. This Honda CBR600 is very important to me because its the very first picture I modified with Photoshop. I've changed the front of the bike to have a the same intake as the Honda RCV211 bike that were used n the Motogp championship.
In this assignment we had to write the same word to make the while Illustration. I have chosen Honda cause that was the best bike there is. We first had to draw the main shape on paper and then fill it use with the same word and using different sizes to produce darker and lighter parts. Most part dark parts I have written allot of small size Honda only the tires I cheated a bit with overlapping big Honda. But its a very cool Illustration and from distance it look very real. I got a 9 for this Illustration, because it looks very real and I wrote extreme small in the dark parts.

Typography morphing WXY

This is a shape morphing assignment for T&V, where we first need to make one letter and morph it over to the nearest letter of your classmates in alphabetical order.









I've got the letter X from the teacher, which was very easy to make a new font with. Then when everybody finished there letter we had to look at the nearest letters. For me that was W and Y.

However the W of my classmate wasn't all that interesting, but luckily the Y was much better and more interesting to morph with. I've got a 9 for this assignment cause the morphed shapes to a other letter are very well done.

Drawing emotion assignment

This is an old assignment from last year, where we need to draw a emotion on paper. I choose the easy way with this assignment for T&V. I drew the MSN chat window with a buzz smiley. The teacher gave me a high grade for this cause he could easily see which emotion I showed in this drawing. Also because the chat window look very real from a distance and also pop up from the rest of the drawing from other students.
