Sai Yeung Choi Street

IMG_0974
This is actually one of the oddest streets in Mong Kok cause during certain times the streets is open for people to walk and all vehicles are prohibited to enter. However the varity of shops make it interesting also because it is stated next to the Ladies market. The most intersting shop of this street is on the very end almost to Yau Ma tei which is an art supply store which is truly major with everything you could ask for, however what is not great about it, are the service by the shop workers. They actually don't even know if they got certain things or not and pretty much very lazy to help you out searching it or explaining things. Also today was a warm day and all the airco on all the shops were turned pretty high and I can't seem to stand the dry air that comes from the airco I get a very dry throat each time I get in a shop and need to drink something very fast otherwise I begin to caught and people might think I got some major decease or something. Also my friend appartment mate is smoking allot and each time I am home I start to caught, I am thinking moving to the studio which means less expenses on traveling plus a much better environment cause nobody smokes there.

Hardpack at Underground 5th anniversary

Her are some action shots of Hardpack playing at the 5th anniversary of Underground. Actually this is probably one of my better set of photo's taken of people performing, some shots could actually be used for a poster or advertisement.

This black guitar was given away after this band performed. I am pretty proud of this set of pictures taken with my Canon 1000D full manual mode with custom white balance, in the photoshop I only had to also they color levels a bit cause of the colored lights they used but no filters or any other tools were use to improve the pictures.

Underground 5th anniversary

IMG_0951
April 25th was the Fifth anniversary of Underground and non other than Chris B was the MC for the night. Underground is a club that organizes event where unsigned talents can showcase and play their music.
IMG_0482
The event started with a band called Summer Junkies which would preform their very last gig at Underground, during that gig I helped out filming and gotten some great angles, however could not photograph holding a Canon 5D MrkIII filming HD which is the camera of Alan. While having my own camera in my bag.
IMG_0380IMG_0379
2nd Band was Airtub which regrouped specially for this event.
IMG_0593
The third band was Us-2 Evil-0 which is a Filipino Indie pop band which really gave a great show with great vibes coming from them. With the two vocals dancing around and preforming a great show.
IMG_0617
Also there were some prizes given away here the poor guy had gotten 3 boxes of guitar sound controllers, while he does not even play guitar. Also he biggest prize a V guitar was given away to a lady and yet also someone who does not play guitar.
IMG_0697
The fourth band Hardpack which somehow looked formilair to me while they were there not sure why then. But after the event looked into their info and saw that they had teamed up with Phat Chan who is from LMF and not is with 24Herbs. However I made a great set of picture from this band they for sure knew how to pose, also I mainly tried out shoting different then normal using actually angles where I can impossible look through the viewfinder or screen for live view. I will place that set online soon.
IMG_0848
The last but not least is Hardpack with Yan Yan as vocal, Yan Yan also works for Underground as an assistant. At this time I went wild with my camera and just doing stuff with the camera that people would never try out. Actually for the last 2 band I finally had set up my camera's white balance correct and could play with the rest of the setting and actually went playing with the zoom and actually moving my camera around to get special effect, however is not showing here but will put that set online soon.

For sure a great event and learn much more about photographing at a concert like event and area, with flashing lightings. Also tried playing around with things I had forgotten about the cam. However there are still some setting I need to learn about how to alter, cause there is a AEB setting that is bugging me because it alters automatically even though I am in the full manual mode. I am looking forward to more Underground events however I need to buy some earplugs have been to few rockbands events two days in a row and I still hear the high pitch sound, when it is quiet.

NBA Hong Kong Launch Party / Event

IMG_0242
April 24th I went to the NBA.com/Hong Kong Launch party. I actually did not knew about this party till very late, also gotten a invite for it pretty late while I was not at home. However went there with Alan and day before Ivon asked if we would go there. Actually the party was full with people from Alive Not Dead artist. Also had to leave early cause we had to film a band who were playing at the Fringe Club.
IMG_0262IMG_0275IMG_0281IMG_0292IMG_0296
During the party 24Herbs and MC Jin were performing however I couldn't get a good shot of Jin while he was performing. But gotten pretty good shots using Live View on my Canon holding it the camera above the head of the guy standing in front of me.
IMG_0312IMG_0313
After the performances there was give away of few signed basketballs.
IMG_0318
After the giveaway Tung Tung aka Miss Yellow played. And were few things you could also do at the party like play basket ball and all kind of free drink and stuff.
IMG_0246
At the party were allot of Alive Not Dead artist cause the event organizer is Alive Not Dead. However couldn't stay long at the party and talk with everyone cause we had to leave early for to film a band. But however hope to meet all Alive Not Dead people at the upcoming Alive Not Dead 2nd anniversary.

Purple party / Photography

23 April I attended the Purple party at the Mint. however the dress code was to wear anything purple, however most of the ladies did follow the rules, but most of the guys just came in without having themselves dressed in purple.

IMG_0116
However I, Alan and Simon did follow the rule cause we had purposely made the first few Dai Fu Lou shirt that day and though would be good to make them especially to wear it at the purple party, plus we did not have any other purple clothing.
IMG_0056
However the party was more for testing two very new cocktails and also promoting some alcoholic drinks. They placed a giant version of one of the bottles which was made out of ice, if you ordered that drink someone would get on top of the bar to pour the drink in the top and it would come out cold below.
IMG_0059IMG_0099IMG_0101IMG_0121

During the party there were few promo girl promoting the Patron drinks, which you could recognize wearing the Patron hats.
IMG_0176
At the purple party was also a performance of a great vocal band called Metro. However I had to miss the performance cause we had to leave early to shoot a DJ performing at Billion. But already have seen Metro performing at the Speak Up EVENT. The Mint is a pretty interesting place they have a very big aquarium with cover most of the walls on one side and in the VIP area they have a big aquarium with allot of small sharks. Here below are the rest of the snapshots taken at the Purple Party event.

Premier of Dai Fu Lou

April 23 the first prints and designs of Dai Fu Lou series has started.

Coolest funniest but also interesting character. Dai Fu Lou meaning in Cantonese Underwear man, is a special character made for showing off what normally is not shown. Everyone wears underwear and they buy ones they think are pretty, however they never show them unless it is to their partner. We want to show what is on the bottom can also be on top. The Dai Fu Lou designs are made by Jona Lam and Alan Leung.

Dai Fu Lou #00, Dai Fu Lou #0 and Dai Fu Lou Simon Yin. Simon Yin from CB Fresh is the very first of the series which are the characters are based on a real person.

Shirts prints
Here above you see the very first print of the designs before they were pressed on the shirts which were worn the very same night at various locations and events.
IMG_0012
Also the very first tag and autograph of Dai Fu Lou has been placed in the Fringe Club exhibition, which was the very first place we showed our new born characters on the very first shirts.
IMG_0050
Our very first shirts were colored purple especially for the Purple party at night that was held at the Mint with the main theme to wear anything purple and also in the mix with Alive Not Dead.
IMG_0112
At the purple party the 3rd shirt was shown and worn by Simon Yin himself, a day earlier we've met Simon at the IShotHongKong network event where we asked him if he would like to have a Dai Fu Lou character and a shirt with it for the purple party and he said Yes!!! IMG_0116IMG_0127IMG_0174IMG_0179
