Cycling clip

Here is a cycling clip I made of me cycling around with my new camera the Kodak Playsport. I tried doing allot of interesting angles on the bike with my own build velcro balhead bike mount. However I found the higher the mount the more it bounces around and the high up angles are pretty boring compared to shots low to the ground.

If I got time I would do a full track distance plus also grab a tripod to put on the side of the track to have less onboard only shots to make it more interesting. Have to say the Kodak Playsport is a pretty good camera and the quality is not that bad and its is not even that expensive it cost only 149 euro brand new. Also it can be used underwater. However it does lack a macro function to be able to shoot objects close up, however could fix that if I can find some Jelly Lenses which have all kinds of special lenses for mobile camera's.

Inspired Aviary!!!

Finally a free version of Adobe products and they are all online apps so you dont have to install anything plus all the files are online and you can acces your designs from everywhere. It have a photoshop like program called Phoenix which is clearly allot like photoshop and it got all the features. But for most graphic designer the illustrator is also an important program and they got it too which is called Raven. The program can also export svg and eps which can be opened with also the actual Adobe suits plus most printing companies can view the files too. NO problem like other cheap fake Adobe programs who only have their on file formats.

So check out the Aviary online apps at Aviary.com!!! Only have to say that it is sad to see that the iPad does not support flash if it had, you would able to do photo editing and designing using the webbrowser.

Inspired Gorillaz Storyboard

I've never realized a storyboard is that important in film until I finally started to film a short movie I wrote myself. Cause it is a great tool to remember what shot you want and also to show crew how it need to be done. It is different then on the spot trying out different angles to find what is the best it also improve the speed in filming with faster setup to get the right shots.

However I found a great account by Noodles of the Gorillaz on Youtube where you can find animatics of the storyboard of their music clips and surely those are awesome drawings. However embedding the video is shut off but you can see the videos Noodles Youtube page here. But for sure can see how much of the storyboard was still used in the original music clip and also see how they drew the storyboard.

Inspired Xtra Normal

I know this is a very old video and yeah if you are a real graphic designer you know you have met these kinds of situations before. And mostly 9 out of 10 people you ever met would say the sentence; in the future I would have more work for you, that is about the biggest lie ever!

However having seen this video I had never looked further how they did it, cause mostly though someone had time in 3d Max and made this animation, however it is made with a certain webapps/ software by the company Xtra Normal. It is a fun and easy way to make an animation just by writing the dialog and choosing camera and characters movements. However for film makers it is also a way to setup animated storyboards however the movements are and scenes are bit limited there are also several software out there which have more features but this one is the only one that is free.

And final here below a video of all the designers are the same. I have to say that I am lucky to be both product designer and graphic designer but I would know that if you only knew one side people think you can do all. Same as people would think I am also a webdeveloper which is in a total different league of design than graphic designers. Wish that people who studied marketing learns to work with real designers before they are let out of school.
