This is my animated businesscard, I designed it after receiving a special book called magic moving images. I learned how to design it myself and developed a special way to make this. The card exist of a outer sleeve with vertical raster and the animated pictures are made in a special way.
I made it with a thought to catch more attention then the standard business cards, and ad a bit more interaction between the receiver. Instead of just strict graphic and information, I added a play element because you kind of play with it and make it move. This will catch more attention and make the receiver remember the card better and stand out from the others.
To see more picture and also the video look at the full post.

And here is the video first showing an old businesscard to compare and showing the animated cards..

Awesome stuff man!! When will it be for sale? haha
Patent this. NOW. Right away.
Somebody out there will see this and take it right under your nose.
This is an ingenious idea and could really get you up there.
I am not sure if I could patent this. Mainly how the animation works is not new it already exist and probably is patented years ago. I only can implemented it in to a business card or other design.
Could only probably patent how it is build for a business card use. And I am a student and I don't have that much money to buy a patent.
It's indeed a great idea.
Thanks for the inspiration.
As a professional designer I think I could experiment a bit with my own business card to see if I could go out with something like this.
As for the pattent:
As Chung well said, this idea is pretty old. I am not sure if it patented or free but there are a lot of applications out there.
But Chunk must be credited to implement this in personal marketing (if it's not already implemented before).
Happy to found this blog, anyway.
You have some really clever thinks.
Greetings from Athens, Greece.
Thank you Tevis.
Lately, not sure why I seem to get interested in some old design that are kind of faded away.
Somehow I get lucky to discover them and bring them into live a bit.
Hi Chung. Congratulations man!! It looks verycool!! My name is Cazé and I run a startup animation studio here in Brazil. I read you haven't got too much money now and I would like to help/incentivate you by ordering these bussiness cards. Animated Business Cards for an Animation Studio. What do you think? Let's talk about it?
Maybe that you will make a post in instructable for it ?
A post in instructable soon ?
Grear idea, but a designer called Stephan Sagmeister already did it, check his book Made You Look.
A business card to be used with two hand? Hmm???
indeed if the icons are your design then it's copy-righted (graphic implementation), but the idea can not be patented since you did not come up with it, and as we all know when it's on the net, it's free for all
nice work though and as I've seen it from a couple of places: eg. designer Stefan Sagmeister's Business Card or see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzmyDR0fnHQ

Thank you all for your comments. His looks kinda different, but is same principle. I will be making more kinds of these card with more kind of experiments of animations.
Carlos Jose if you would be kindly to contact me though my email to talk further on this.
Where do you get hold of the plastic?
It's possible with myn name adresse and the name of my company ?
great work. any chance you can post some instructions / where to buy materials / etc. thanks
Very clever! Can these be economically produced in large numbers?
They can be easily produced by any printer or press company. So you don't have to make a special machine produce these business cards.
Will go to a press company to let them produce my business card so I can give them to away.
An amazing book named Magic Moving Images -animated optical illusions- has the same effect and it has 26 different animating images. See the book in action on youtube:

Available to buy from Amazon.
I bet you got your inspiration from this book - Magic Moving Images.
Read the first sentences I said I received that book and learned from watching it, how it works and how to make it. Inside the book it doesn't explain 100% how it works. If you watch it carefully it's easy to understand how it works.
Nice stuff. and it helps alot
