Solar Eclipse 22 July 2009 Hong Kong

Yesterday night I heard there would be a Solar eclipse above Asia but too bad only partially seen in Hong Kong but still it would be the very first eclipse I would see plus take pictures of. I didn't even did any research on how to photograph it pretty much did what felt right and setup my camera Canon EOS 500D to the max fragma ( F45) and shutterspeed( 1/4000), used my Tamron 300-70mm tele lens and used my special mirror business card as a filter.

In the mids of all a big cloud came and made it bit more interesting however only thinnest layers of clouds made me to change the setting to be able to take this picture cause of different lightings. But also a big heavy cloud came through and made it impossible to take the eclipse. This is probably the highest point of the eclipse cause after it the sun became bigger again.

My very first eclipse super cool experience and learned myself how to take pictures of an eclipse. Also could not film it cause the 500D film function is not manual enough to be able to capture it. One thing is that the sun move pretty fast and gets out of frame very fast. Hope to see a total eclipse next time or a lunar eclipse. See the full photo set of the Eclipse here at my Flickr.

Prototyping own gimbal

As you can see below this is a ver different gimbal than most out of there. And mostly made out of aluminium instead of carbon. However this is the first prototype as we will change and upgrade the design over time.

Pop up beak CD / Packaging

This is a pop up CD packaging using a well know pop up beak design, this is one of the most basic pop up card design there is. However it is not originally my design however this is an interesting design. Here below is the template of it that you can make one yourself. This packaging is way better then the Pochup which could never stay flat unless you put it between a telephone book.

Printing on sponge

Well am learning this myself though but its quite usefull as it's not a technique that is openly published how to do actually. But today I done several tries and even learned few extra things along the way. But mainly learned this so I dont have to pay stupid expensive prices most of the companies ask when for doing this. However I do need to see how i could cure the inkt cause it need to be heaten up so it won't wash off when there is accidentally get water poured over it.
